Here's a summary of how you can use the Fund It activity to engage your community.
Once you set up the activity, budget
information will appear to your participants at the top of the activity
showing a total budget and minimum spend.
Participants can filter and sort through a
list of projects set up by the admin users by category tags, project sponsors, most expensive,
least expensive, most votes and least votes. This helps them understand
the options presented to them and navigate long lists of projects.
Participants vote for the projects they want to fund from a
list of projects by clicking the 'vote' button on the project card. As they fund
projects, the cost of each project is automatically deducted from the
budget until it is all spent, or the minimum spend is achieved.
Participants cannot submit their votes until the budget requirements are met.
If a participant exceeds their budget by attempting to fund a project that costs more than they have left in their budget, they are shown an error message alerting them of the issue. They can then decide to forgo funding that project or adjust their choices by un-funding a previously funded project.
Once participants satisfy spend enough money to satisfy the minimum spend requirement, they
must also complete any required personal information (depending on the
configured Member Attributes). When finished, they can submit their contribution by clicking the 'Submit' button at the bottom of the activity.
You can (optionally) allow participants to cancel their submission (by enabling the
Submission Cancelling setting) which allows them to cancel their votes and start the activity again.
Variable Fund It
Variable Fund It introduces a new mode where items in Fund It can have a variable cost with a minimum and a (new) maximum. Users still have a budget, of points or currency, but now when they fund a particular project they can go beyond the minimum. This is achieved through a slider and buttons that users can use to go above a minimum after they have funded a project. This allows more complex funding combinations and expressions of preference than the fixed mode.
